GRADING, CLASSES, AND TUITION - ACTIVITY CHECKS

 Classes/Activity Check

A moderator will post TWO posts a month tagged as “Class Post/Activity Check”.  Players must comment to ONE of the two posts.  (If both posts look interesting, they may post to both.  One is mandatory.)  There is a minimum of ONE comment, which may be anything related to being in a class.  (Ex. “Jo is taking notes furiously”, “Chris is sleeping with his eyes open”, or something longer.)  Playing in these posts is encouraged, but not mandatory.  

Grading

Grading is purely for IC purposes and serves no OOC purpose at all.  That said!  You, the players, get to decide what your character’s letter grade is.  If you say it’s an “A”, it’s an “A”.  Same if you decide you want your character to fail.  However, based on participation in the Class post you will get a +/-.  So if you say “My character gets an A”, but only has one comment in the class post their final grade will be “A-”.  Again: This is purely for flavour.  It will change nothing, although if you decide your character is failing too many classes then they might be called into a meeting with their advisor to discuss changing their major!

Tuition

Those without means will receive transport to, tuition for, and housing at the university.  Those with means will be expected to pay for upkeep of their housing. 

• Work-study opportunities will exist for students who want extra money.  WSO’s will be assigned an NPC teacher and be expected to reference them getting work on a semi-regular basis.  Ex. In a thread with another student, “Dr. Lee had me grade papers for him again”.  This will not be ongoing handwaved, it must be mentioned now and again.

    • Grading assistance for teachers

    • Library page

    • One student may apply to be Dr. Lee’s personal assistant.  This will be a higher-paying job than other WSO’s, but also contains a certain risk of bodily harm.

    • Janitorial work

    • Daytime groundskeeper assistant

    • Campus go-fers.

    • Cafeteria workers

    • Nursing assistants

    • Other opportunities if requested to the mods
